AGENCY: Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt Institute

ITEM: Grants-in-Aid provide up to $2,500 for research on the "Roosevelt years" or closely related subjects.  Funds are awarded to defray living, travel, & related expenses while conducting research at the Roosevelt Library. PROGRAM: Research Travel Grants Program
AGENCY: Gerald R. Ford Library and Museum
NEXT DEADLINE: Sep 15, 2008
ITEM: Provides approximately 10 awards of up to $2,000 for travel & living expenses to use the library's archival materials relating to 1970s US domestic & economic policies, foreign affairs, & national politics. Deadlines are 3/15 & 9/15 annually.  Applications may be submitted at any time & those received too late for one round will be considered in the next. PROGRAM: Furthermore Grants in Publishing
AGENCY: J.M. Kaplan Fund
NEXT DEADLINE: Sep 15, 2008
ITEM: Makes grants of between $500 and $15,000 to support writing, research, editing, design, indexing, photography, illustration, printing, and binding of nonfiction books. Projects should relate to natural and historic resources; art, architecture, and design; cultural history; civil liberties; and other public issues. There is some emphasis on New York City and State. PROGRAM: Fellowships to Assist Research & Artistic Creation
AGENCY: John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation
NEXT DEADLINE: Sep 15, 2008
ITEM: Provides fellowships averaging $40,000 each to further the development of scholars & professionals in all fields (natural & social sciences, humanities, & creative arts) except the performing arts. Students are ineligible. Fellowships for 'Constitutional Studies' now available. Scholars from the U.S. & Canada must apply by 9/15, while those from Latin America & the Caribbean must apply by 12/1. ITEM: Supports short-term research at the Johnson Library, which houses the papers of LBJ's career.  Eligibility is limited to postdoc scholars, grad & undergrad students. Prior to submitting a proposal, applicants must call to obtain information about materials available in the library on the proposed research topic. PROGRAM: East European Studies (EES)
AGENCY: Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars
NEXT DEADLINE: Sep 01, 2008
ITEM: EES supports research on Eastern & Southeast Europe, or projects that can be linked to issues in the Western Balkans. Research Grants provide 3-4 months of support for new researchers or for scholars whose careers have been interrupted or delayed (12/1). The Junior Scholars' Training Seminar Program supports junior scholars to attend a seminar in Washington (4/14). Short Term Grants allow scholars residency for one month to use the library, archival and other resources (3/1, 6/1, 9/1, 12/1).
